MLK
I can remember as a kid being at aTigers baseball game with my dad hearing the Star Spangle Banner song being sung throughout the entire stadium, feeling all the cells in my tiny body begin to come alive. Still to this day when I hear these lyrics I feel a sense of patriotism wash over me with the words being sung, O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave, bringing tears to my eyes.
Looking around at the currant state of affairs, the American "education" system, the metephorical climate of culture in America, I feel like we have forgotten what it means to be the land of the free, home of the brave (if we have ever been) in a country of overly prejudice assertive labeling indoctrinated individuals pushing outdated fear based agendas. This feeling I have looming in my critical thinking unplugged mind resembles a psychology class I took in college talking about the effects of mass psychosis & what happens when we are no longer in touch with reality.
If you choose to assert your right as a human to believe or choose something other than what is being heavily persuaded to become the new grounds of normal, it will often times generate a mob effect of fear driven people. Religion has been one of the largest persecutors of the ideology, killing in the name of G-D. Just look back in time at history which has the blueprints of repetition while trying to hide its grotesqueness in camouflage from being apart of its horrific doings.
Whats happening right now globally in my opinion is the beginning stages of an updated version of that old school witch hunt, generating mass hysteria in hopes offsetting enough tactics to justify its persecution. Now a days the media & social outlets have become the new town square settings where once its villagers came to watch & cheer on while the "other" was being publicly hung or burned alive at the stake for having a different set of beliefs. I would like to think we have evolved enough to know better by now, but sadly I don't think we have.
FEAR is one of the deadliest viruses know to mankind & the more it's used to influence a group of people the more contagious it becomes with greater amounts of destruction that can happen because of it. Cultures, religions, nations, governments, communities & families have used the ploy of insidious fear based views & propaganda to maintain its control of force with their persuasive way of thinking. This strategic trick to spread the feeling of what appears to be concern, worry & for your protection is actually a maneuver to keep you small & stupid.
This emotional obstruction will begin to create cowardly behavior in people who would otherwise not have a problem with speaking up & have something to say. I have seen this happen in my own nuclear family that in the end I had to sever most ties with because of the inability to defend what is wrong & unjust in a family of fuckedupness. Speaking our truth is the most powerful tool we have to use, which often times make other people very uncomfortable in their own house of lies. Staying silent out of fear is volunteering yourself to be apart of the problem.
I applaud people like Martin Luther King Jr. who stood up & marched for what he believed, being a voice of love in a world that outnumbered him in hate. Bless all those who continue to have the courage to stand in their right for freedom & voice the power of equality for ALL MANKIND.
